چکیده

In this article, we further study the problem of soft applicability of rules within the framework of approximation spaces. Such forms of applicability are generally called rough. The starting point is the notion of graded applicability of a rule to an object, introduced in our previous work and referred to as fundamental. The abstract concept of rough applicability of rules comprises a vast number of particular cases. In the present paper, we generalize the fundamental form of applicability in two ways. Firstly, we more intensively exploit the idea of rough approximation of sets of objects. Secondly, a graded applicability of a rule to a set of objects is defined. A better understanding of rough applicability of rules is important for building the ontology of an approximate reason and, in the sequel, for modeling of complex systems, e.g., systems of social agents.

A Graded Applicability of Rules

We address the problem of rough applicability of rules within the framework of approximation spaces. The graded applicability of a rule for an object of an approximation space, introduced here, is viewed as a fundamental form of rough applicability. It is based on the graded meaning of a set of formulas, defined in our previous works. The notion of graded applicability enjoys a number of intere...

A New Approach for Knowledge Based Systems Reduction using Rough Sets Theory (RESEARCH NOTE)

Problem of knowledge analysis for decision support system is the most difficult task of information systems. This paper presents a new approach based on notions of mathematical theory of Rough Sets to solve this problem. Using these concepts a systematic approach has been developed to reduce the size of decision database and extract reduced rules set from vague and uncertain data. The method ha...

Rough sets theory in site selection decision making for water reservoirs

Rough Sets theory is a mathematical approach for analysis of a vague description of objects presented by a well-known mathematician, Pawlak (1982, 1991). This paper explores the use of Rough Sets theory in site location investigation of buried concrete water reservoirs. Making an appropriate decision in site location can always avoid unnecessary expensive costs which is very important in constr...

Aiding Fuzzy Rule Induction with Fuzzy Rough Attribute Reduction

Many rule induction algorithms are unable to cope with high dimensional descriptions of input features. To enable such techniques to be effective, a redundancy-removing step is usually carried out beforehand. Rough Set Theory (RST) has been used as such a dataset pre-processor with much success, however it is reliant upon a crisp dataset; important information may be lost as a result of quantiz...

A Rough Set Approach to Multiple Criteria ABC Analysis

A dominance-based rough set approach (DRSA) to multiple criteria ABC analysis (MCABC) is designed and compared to other approaches using a practical case study. ABC analysis is a well-known inventory planning and control approach, which classifies inventory items, or stock-keeping units (SKUs), based solely on their annual dollar usage. Recently, it has been suggested that MCABC can provide mor...
